Storage Baskets With Lids
Storage Baskets with lids are generally speaking baskets that are made with lids so as to protect items stored inside from the elements. Although storage baskets with lids are not nearly as effective as alternatives today's technology can provide such as coolers and hazmat containers, these baskets are still popular in certain populations.
These lids are usually made with the same material used for the rest of the basket attached by hinges. One perfect example of this is the creel, a lidded basket originated from Europe, which is generally a wicker basket that is used by anglers to store their catch. Although the creel does not work as effectively as a cooler, it is able to keep the catch fresh functioning as an evaporative cooler. Another example is the willow coffin which is also quite popular in Europe as opposed to conventional coffins. Willow coffins are made using the vegetable fiber, willow, which is a durable and long lasting material.
Of course, the main reason these willow coffins are selected over the more conventional coffin is the fact that it is more environmental friendly. Of course, in households all over the world, one of the most common forms of lidded baskets is the laundry basket. These baskets are made from a large variety materials the most common being plastic and synthetic wicker which are impervious from water damage. This is because most of the baskets that use conventional materials, although durable, are susceptible to damage when exposed to water or environments with excessive moisture which is the case in most laundry areas and washrooms. Of course, other than households, lidded baskets are also used in shops such as supermarkets. These baskets are usually made of metal wires with the lid locked which is the case for easily shoplifted items. Needless to say, the fact that storage baskets with lids come in all forms of designs also helps as a form of decoration. Back to Storage Baskets
